So, you’ve decided to tie the knot. Why not make the biggest day of your life truly reflect your personality and be what you always dreamed it could be.
We will visit you to discuss ideas and get to know you as a couple. After which we will prepare a ceremony that is uniquely yours. We then send you a copy which can then be edited and fine tuned to be exactly the way you want it.
You Choose the Location
We are authorised by the Registrar General for Scotland to conduct legal wedding ceremonies anywhere in Scotland (Not just in licensed hotels).
We pride ourselves in providing a unique wedding experience with greater flexibility, but we always ensure each humanist wedding ceremony is exactly the way you want it.
“All of the guests who were there have all commented on how nice the service was, from Caitlin doing her reading to the personal touches mentioned and the kids being involved with the hand fasting. You really did greatly contribute to making our day extra special.”
Your humanist ceremony is a unique opportunity to pledge your love and to express how you feel about each other and why you want to join the rest of your lives together. Your ceremony is for you, it’s about you, and we are sure that an Independent Humanist can assist you in creating a ceremony that reflects the depth of your feelings for each other.
Humanist Weddings Around Scotland
If you are interested in meeting a Celebrant, let us know your date, venue, and the area in which you stay. We will then forward your details to an available Celebrant who will get in touch to arrange an initial meeting.
Our fee is £500 for wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships. A £100 booking fee is payable after meeting your Celebrant and only if you are happy to proceed. The remaining balance isn't then payable until 28 days prior to the ceremony. There is no obligation to join our organisation and therefore no annual membership fee. I.H.C. celebrants contribute part of their fee to support our campaigning on issues of equality, social justice and promoting the humanist cause. All IHC Celebrants are fully insured.
We can also conduct non legal weddings and renewal of vows for the same charge.
The day that you join in marriage or a civil partnership is your big day and we will do everything to ensure that it is a day that you will remember for the rest of your lives. Independent Humanist Ceremonies is a supporter of Equal Marriage and our Celebrants are legally authorised to conduct same sex marriages and civil partnerships across Scotland.
If you feel your needs are greater than the standard package, maybe you have decided to get married on an Island, please do speak to us and we will do our very best to accommodate.
We'd love to talk to you about your wedding day! If you'd like to check availability, or if you have any questions, please get in touch, as we have a wealth of experience and can provide answers to help plan your day.
