Our Celebrants

Booking a Celebrant

Below are just a few of our dedicated Celebrants available to conduct ceremonies throughout Scotland. Although we predominantly conduct Weddings, Funerals and Baby naming ceremonies, our experienced team are available for other forms of ceremony on request.

Each of our Celebrants dedicates their entire day to their client. When receiving a request a Celebrant is usually allocated according to availability and geographic location. If you have a preference, then we will endeavor to get your preferred Celebrant if they are available. All of our Celebrants are fully trained to meet both the standards of Independent Humanist Ceremonies and those of the General Registrar for Scotland in the case of weddings.

Like every other couple you would wish your Wedding Ceremony to be very personal and unique for you.  The ‘art’ in being a Humanist Celebrant is to gather your information and present it in such a fashion that you are delighted with the outcome.  Every Ceremony is different but they are all performed to suit you and your wishes.

I have been fortunate enough to have vast experience of dealing with the public over many decades and this I trust is evident in my dealings with couples throughout the process and on their particular ‘special’ day.

Kirsty Gilhooly

Location:
Bathgate

Baby Naming, Weddings

Hello! I am Kirsty. I live in the Central belt with my husband, our Bernese Mountain Dog and geriatric cat. However, I am able to travel anywhere to help create a personal and memorable experience for couples.

A celebrant's role is to listen, compile your stories; big and small to create a ceremony tailored to the love you share.

Every wedding is unique and I look forward to meeting and working with couples to build a ceremony which reflects who they are. Be that romantic, formal, light-hearted or a bit of all of that.

I am a very organised planner, with a deep love of stationery. Planning can be a daunting process.  It would be my honour and privilege to guide and help you celebrate you and your story.

Craig Aikman

Location:
Beith
Available for:
Baby Naming, Funerals and Memorials, Weddings

Prior to becoming a celebrant, I gained over 30 years experience in my previous employments, all of which were very much focussed on working with people. I also have a background in public speaking, both within those occupations, but also as an after dinner speaker and at Burns Suppers. As a devoted family man, I am pleased to also mention that my teenage son has now spoken at several Burns Suppers, following on in my footsteps. (A future humanist perhaps?)

When it comes to composing your ceremony, the way I see it is there is no right or wrong in what you choose to include, because this is not a “One size fits all” type of thing. My goal will be to work with you, guide you, make suggestions to you, and to compose something that is personal, special and unique to you, to accurately reflect your lives, and the love you share for one another. Together we will create a ceremony that both you, as well as your families and friends will remember for the rest of your lives!

I also have vast experience in dealing with families during their times of loss and grief. These are never easy moments in peoples lives. If I were to be able to help you, and provide a tailored, personal and fitting tribute to the life your loved one lived, and to be able to share their story with family and friends at their funeral ceremony, I would consider it a privilege and an honour to do so.

Ceremonies are ways of marking key moments in life's journey and celebrating our interconnectedness with the people we love.

A humanist ceremony creates a space to gather together and honour the relationships that hold us and make us who we are, and each one should be as special and unique as the bond they celebrate.

I have many years' experience as a writer, lecturer and event host, and would be honoured to work with you to craft a ceremony that places your story at the heart of your day.

The beauty with Humanist weddings is that you don’t need to follow any rules. I love finding out who my couples are - whether they want a ceremony that is casual and stripped back, or absolutely hilarious, quirky and full of mad stories! You can create a ceremony that completely embodies who you are as a couple, without the need for outdated traditions. Does your Quaich contain tequila? Do you want to write parts of the ceremony in secret from each other? Would you rather stick on your hiking boots, head into the woods and bring your dog? Go for it!

Celebrate who you are, and I guarantee that you will have the most amazing time as you step into married life. All of your guests will come away knowing EXACTLY why you two have chosen to commit the rest of your lives to each other!

Special memories last a lifetime

There are times in everyone’s life which are remembered forever, and a wedding is one of these.

I look forward to working closely with you to design a personal and unique ceremony which reflects you as a couple and creates lots of special memories for you to look back on.

Hi there, I’m Fiona, and I’m based in the beautiful region of Dumfries and Galloway. I
consider it a great privilege to be part of a couple’s journey towards their wedding day.
Choosing a Humanist ceremony means that together we can create the perfect day for you;
one that is personally meaningful and reflects your personalities, beliefs and values.
My background in music and performance means I love to tell a good story! It’s always
wonderful to hear couples talking about how they met, perhaps with some particular
romantic moments and funny memories they’ve had along the way, and then to weave
those strands together into a beautiful ceremony that will be remembered forever.
I also believe it is hugely important to tell with compassion and respect the story of a loved
one who has passed away. As an experienced counsellor, I will listen empathically to a
family at this most difficult time, and work closely with them to provide a personal and
fitting tribute to their loved one.

In the words of Wet Wet Wet- "Love is all around you" and that's exactly how it should be on your wedding day - in my role as your Celebrant, from our first meeting I want to ensure that YOUR special day is exactly how you want it.

I would be honoured to facilitate your loved one’s final journey, with a tailored ceremony for their funeral that tells those in attendance about their life and personality.

Baby-naming’s - what a lovely occasion to be involved in, as a father of a toddler, I appreciate the importance, to every parent, of their child and will make this ceremony as amazing as you would want for you and your baby!

I have had a variety of adventures in my life including public service, chefing, sport and latterly 12 years in sales, meaning that public speaking and presenting to audiences is second nature to me.

I have been conducting services for several years now. I love 'happy' occasions and it is always an absolute pleasure to give a personal service to a couple & their families on these wonderful days! A great lover of Scottish & European history, I love conducting traditional handfasts & weddings with or without plaids & tartan and traditional white weddings too. It is your day and I take great pleasure in putting together aceremony that is unique to you and reflects your wishes. Located in the North East of Scotland I have travelled from the borders to Orkney, conducted services in ruined abbeys, hotels, castles & gardens in fact just about everywhere! I will always do my very best for a family and make their Service the best it can be. Because everyone and every family deserve the best I can give.
